Like a general on the war front, B Muthuraman, MD of Tata Steel, always gives credit to his soldiers for all the accolades the steel major wins. So, it was no surprise that he passed on the credit of receiving the ET Award for Company of the Year to Tata Steels employees. It is a great pleasure for me to accept this award on behalf of the people of Tata Steel, both past and present, who over a hundred years have demonstrated that oneness with society, adaptability to the changing and challenging environment, empowerment of people, financial prudence, ethical governance and trusteeship are the cornerstones of sustainability of an industrial corporation and of its value to the people of a nation. To me, this award is a vindication of our long-held beliefs, rather than merely a recognition of our economic performance. It is an honour to receive this award from the hands of the Prime Minister. I accept the award with a great deal of humility and pride.
